7 Boucle Beds That Feel Like Sleeping On A Cloud
The Good Trade editors endorse products we’ve personally researched, tested, and genuinely love. Learn more about our methodology and business model here.
We’ve researched, tested, and slept in nontoxic beds and bedding for years — these are our picks for beautiful bouclé beds that are sustainably made with thoughtful materials.
If you’ve been even remotely in the loop of interior design trends lately, you’ve probably heard a lot about bouclé beds — typically white, typically puffy, and just about the coziest looking thing you’ve ever seen.
Bouclé bed frames, sometimes called cloud beds, are characterized by their padded frame that’s completely upholstered in a bouclé (pronounced boo-KLAY) fabric. They’re typically raised on a platform but don’t have a footboard — just a headboard that’s comfy to lean against, unlike solid wood headboards.
We’ve rounded up a selection of bouclé beds from some of our favorite home brands that prioritize eco-friendly practices — so if you’re going to hop on the trend, you can do so in the most sustainable way possible.
What is bouclé fabric?
Bouclé is a fabric made of a type of textured, looped yarn. Usually made of wool, polyester, cotton, or some blend, bouclé fabric is spun in a way that gives it a soft, fleecy feel that’s ultra-touchable, higher-end than actual fleece, and has a textured look. You’ll usually find bouclé in white or other light colors.
How to clean your bouclé pieces:
Bouclé’s texture can attract loose dirt, so vacuuming with a bristle brush is usually the most effective way to clean it. If you get any spills or stains on it, start by blotting excess moisture, then spot clean with a cloth and a simple, bleach-free cleaning solution like a mix of laundry detergent and water.
What should you consider when shopping for an upholstered bed frame?
When shopping for upholstered bed frames like bouclé beds, we look for a few details. We’re always prioritizing furniture made by hand and/or made in the US or North America. We also look for pieces made of solid wood or hardwood rather than composite or synthetic woods — FSC-certified wood is a plus, meaning it comes from sustainably managed forests.
When it comes to bouclé fabric, we look for those that use cotton, wool, or recycled polyester rather than virgin polyester. Note that most bouclé fabric is made with polyester, which gives it its softness and durability, but it’s important for us to keep an eye out for recycled materials, blends of natural materials, and fabric certifications to ensure no harmful chemicals are present, like Oeko Tex and Greenguard.
Something else we look for when it comes to cloud beds? Storage! Just because you’re getting a chunky bedframe doesn’t mean you have to be without underbed storage. Several beds on this list have storage drawers or bases that lift totally up with hydraulic or gas lifting mechanisms.
Our criteria:
Our editors have lived with and researched the top sustainable furniture brands for over a decade. For this list, we’ve chosen our favorite bouclé beds made with safe, sustainable materials and manufacturing processes that will last for generations to come. We often revisit this guide to add new picks when they meet the criteria below.
- SUSTAINABLE/ECO-FRIENDLY | Made with natural, organic, recycled, and/or responsibly sourced materials, these upholstered bedframes are low-impact and better for both our indoor environment and our planet. The materials and thoughtful production practices mean our choices are also durable and will maintain their integrity for years.
- NONTOXIC | We’ve chosen bedframes that have certifications ensuring they use safe materials and no harsh chemicals are applied in the process. None of the options on this list contain flame retardants, VOCs, or fiberglass. While bouclé fabric is necessarily synthetic, we searched for brands that use recycled polyester in their bouclé and have safety certifications like Oeko-Tex or Greenguard.
- COMFORT | Nothing scratchy, wobbly, or low quality here. We’ve selected brands that have a track record for making comfortable and supportive furniture and beds so you can sleep soundly.

1. West Elm
Best For | Variety of designs
Sustainable materials | Bouclé of recycled polyester, linen options, FSC wood
Price (Queen) | Starting at $1,299
West Elm is always one of our favorite furniture stores because of its variety and brand authority — you’ll also find some of the most affordable sustainable options here. They have no shortage of something as specific as even bouclé bed frames. Some are tufted, some have half-moon headboards, some have chunkier, more contemporary looks, and others have a sleeker vibe. Their Laurent bed gives you that classic cloud bed look, with a bubbly profile and a version where the mattress pops up for underbed storage, too. It comes in several white and off-white bouclé fabric options made with recycled polyester, or you can choose something like linen, chenille, or twill. Their Lana upholstered bed, on the other hand, is raised up on mid-century modern legs for an elevated (literally) vibe and also comes in dozens of fabric options. We also love the pull-out drawers of the Freya side storage bed, or the curved edges of the Inez bed.

2. Sundays
Best For | Sleek, timeless designs
Sustainable materials | 100% recycled polyester fabric, solid wood
Price (Queen) | Starting at $2,150
Sundays is all about furniture that blends modern aesthetics and high-quality construction with a focus on sustainability. Founded in 2019 in Canada by four friends, the brand is a member of One Tree Planted and specializes in laid-back, cozy vibes, so it’s no surprise they make several bouclé bed options. Their Cloud bed has two big sofa-like cushions as a headboard for maximum comfort, and the cushion covers zip off for easy cleaning. It comes in a storage option, too, that has a hydraulic lift mechanism to easily store clutter under the mattress. Other cloud-like options that we love? Their Lunar bed, with chunky pedestal legs for a modern look, is upholstered in fabric made of 100% recycled polyester, and their Dream bed has simple, clean lines and bouclé fabric upholstery for that classic cloud bed look. It also comes with a storage option — a cloud bed doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice under-bed storage space!
Customer Review | “We love it! No buyer’s remorse here. It’s so sturdy and well made. Delivery was quick and easy—the free setup only took about 30 min. The bed is beautiful. Headboard is comfy to sit against. We had the best sleep on it! The slats support the mattress evenly across the whole bed.” – Grace F. (Read more reviews.)

3. Castlery
Best For | Bouclé storage beds
Sustainable materials | Okeo Tex-certified and transparent fabrics, solid wood frame
Price (Queen) | Starting at $1,199
Castlery believes no one should have to choose between furniture they can afford and furniture that they love — they create pieces designed that are stylish, moderately priced, and, most importantly, designed to last a lifetime. Maybe this bouclé bed will be the last bedframe you ever need to purchase. Most of their products are made with Oeko Tex Standard 100 certified fabric, including their Joseph bed, which combines a bouclé headboard with a low, modern, walnut base. We also love the Auburn performance bouclé storage bed, which has an elegant wingback headboard, a gas lift mechanism for easy under-bed storage, and a spill-resistant fabric upholstery. Also covered in their spill-resistant bouclé is the Rochelle bed, which has an elegantly curved headboard for a distinctive look. Castlery is committed to lowering their shipping carbon footprint, shipping with Maersk Eco Delivery which replaces fossil fuels with greener fuels like green methanol.
Customer Review | “I decided to splurge on this bed hoping the quality and workmanship would be far superior that the cheaper looking dupes online. The materials and craftsmanship is top notch and feels super luxurious. Glad I made this investment in this bed for our master bedroom.” – Christine C. (Read more reviews.)

4. Quince
Best For | Bouclé beds made in the US
Sustainable materials | Cotton blend bouclé, hardwood frame
Price (Queen) | Starting at $1,300
Beloved for its more-sustainable options for staple products like leather shoes, cashmere sweaters, diamond jewelry, silk pajamas, and linen sheets, Quince cuts out the middleman to sell high-quality products that are surprisingly affordable. They make a large lineup of home goods, too, from bath and bedding products to furniture — including cloud beds, since they’re always staying on top of the latest trends. We love the soft yet structured look of their plush bouclé curved bed with its rounded corners, the elegant look of their plush bouclé wingback bed, or the simplicity of their plush bouclé square bed. All their upholstered beds are handcrafted in their Chicago factory with hardwood frames for durability and solid wood slats so there’s no need for a box spring. And their plush bouclé isn’t all synthetic — it’s a blend of polyester and cotton — and their upholstered beds also come in 100% linen or performance velvet options, too. Plus, all beds are delivered with their free white glove service.
Customer Review | “I’ve never ordered furniture from Quince before but I’m SO glad I gave it a try. This bed is beautiful, amazing quality, and hundreds of dollars cheaper than similar beds at the big box stores (even thousands in some cases!). It goes so well with the vibe of my room.” – Katie (Read more reviews.)

5. Silk & Snow
Best For | Affordability
Sustainable materials | Solid acacia and rubberwood frames
Price (Queen) | Starting at $650
Silk & Snow, based in Canada, is all about making sleep better with thoughtfully sourced materials and intentional design — to that effect, they made bedding, mattresses, pillows, and some furniture, like couches and bed frames. Their cushion headboard + platform bed is a great combination of the best of both worlds; its cushioned headboard that’s upholstered in a bouclé fabric gives it extra comfort and that cloud bed look, while its solid wood platform frame features Japanese joinery for durability and a sturdy, elevated vibe. We also like their upholstered bed frame, featuring elegantly tufted upholstery on the headboard. If you want a headboard-less cloud bed, check out their upholstered platform bed frame with solid wood mid-century legs. Silk & Snow partners with veritree to plant trees and with True North Aid to supply remote Indigenous communities in Canada with bedding products. And the best part? Silk & Snow’s bedframes are the most affordable on this list.
Customer Review | “We were so impressed with the construction of this bed – no screws, bolts or having to use finicky Allen keys. Joints made the old-fashioned way – what a breeze — and so eco-conscious. Plus, a great bed for sleeping in.” – Heather L. (Read more reviews.)

6. Saatva
Best For | Oversized designs
Sustainable materials | Sustainably sourced hardwood frames
Price (Queen) | Starting at $1,495
Luxury sleep brand Saatva assembles all of their mattresses and other sleep accessories in US factories, lowering the carbon emissions it takes for you to receive the product. They currently make a few of their favorite upholstered bedframes (which usually come in 100% linen or cotton/poly blend velvet options) in a limited edition bouclé fabric for the ultimate high-end cloud bed. The Crete bed features a simple yet striking design, with a boxy platform and an oversized silhouette. The Basel bed has an elevated wingback headboard that becomes even cozy in their bouclé fabric, and the Merano bed, when ordered in bouclé fabric, becomes a modern, cozy take on a sleigh bed. All of their bedframes are crafted of sustainably sourced, kiln-dried hardwood for durability you can feel good about, and Saatva has plenty of other sustainability initiatives, too — their factories recycle all wood, plastic, and foam scraps, they use Oeko Tex fabrics, they plant trees with Evertreen, and they’re a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council.

7. CB2
Best For | Black bouclé
Sustainable materials | FSC-certified wood
Price (Queen) | Starting at $1,999
Crate & Barrel’s sister brand, CB2 is where you’ll find more modern, stylish, whimsical pieces (in contrast to Crate & Barrel’s more timeless designs). So it’s only fitting that they make a few bouclé bed options — that are all beautifully designed and constructed, of course. Their Diana bouclé bed has that classic cloud bed silhouette, upholstered and padded on all sides with rounded edges on the base and a slight wave shape to the headboard. It comes in white and brown bouclé options along with a sophisticated black, which isn’t easy to find. Their Auburn bouclé bed is also fully upholstered but has a bit more structure to it, with a rectangular bedframe and an FSC-certified red oak base. CB2 has the same sustainability goals as their sister brand, too, like responsibly sourced wood (around 50% of the wood they use is FSC-certified) and Oeko Tex-certified fabrics and they reduce their impact and their factories, stores, and warehouses — their Romeoville, Illinois distribution center has been recognized by the Green Building Initiative.
Customer Review | “This bed was worth the wait! Beautiful design and upholstery, and amazing quality. The headboard is also very comfortable to sit up against, unlike some other beds we have had in the past. Definitely recommend.” – (Read more reviews.)
